Arts Outburst is looking for a talented part-time Project Officer to help deliver inspiring participatory arts projects across Thurrock, South Essex, and East London. You’ll play a key role in turning ideas into reality – supporting communities, collaborating with artists, and helping to make creativity part of everyday life.

Job Title: Project Officer
Contract: Part-time (3 or 4 days / 24-32 hours per week)
Salary: circa £24,000 pro rata
Location: Grays, Essex

What You’ll Do

  • Support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of arts projects for people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Work alongside artists, communities, and partners to deliver engaging activities and events.
  • Help manage project schedules, budgets, and resources.
  • Deliver workshops and creative sessions with confidence and enthusiasm.
  • Promote inclusion, creativity, and participation in everything you do.

Who You Are

  • A creative thinker with experience in arts project delivery (paid or voluntary).
  • A practising artist in any form – theatre, music, dance, visual arts, digital, or another creative area.
  • Confident working with a wide range of people, including children, young people, and community groups.
  • Organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple tasks at once.
  • Passionate about the positive impact the arts can have on people and places.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience working across more than one artform.
  • Knowledge of the South Essex arts and culture scene.
  • Skills in marketing, evaluation, or digital content creation.
  • A driving licence and willingness to travel.
