Thurrock CAN: Workshops for Creatives

Across six sessions, you’ll explore the essentials of building a creative career — from raising your profile and costing your work to finding commissions, writing grants, and running engaging workshops. You’ll also discover how to collaborate across sectors and strengthen your role within Thurrock’s growing cultural landscape.

Artist Workshop #1: Building Your Profile

As a creative in Thurrock, it’s important to be seen and recognised for your talent. This workshop will help you build a professional profile that reflects who you are and what you stand for. Learn how to present your practice, shape your portfolio, and use digital platforms and local networks to raise your visibility and connect with opportunities.

Artist Workshop #2: Budgeting and Costing Your Work

Money matters can feel overwhelming, but they don’t have to be. In this hands-on session, you’ll learn how to cost your work properly, set fair prices, and create simple budgets that help you plan ahead. We’ll focus on valuing your skills and time so you can work with confidence while building a sustainable creative career in Thurrock and beyond.

Artist Workshop #3: Getting Gigs and Commissions

Whether you’re looking to secure local commissions or expand your freelance work, this workshop will guide you through the process of finding, pitching, and winning opportunities.
