Budgeting & Costing Your Work is a 60-90-minute interactive workshop designed to demystify the financial side of making creative work. Using a real case study, you’ll explore how to break down costs, estimate expenses, factor in fair rates, and avoid common budgeting pitfalls with confidence. Expect hands-on exercises, group reflection, and space to ask questions that matter to your project’s sustainability. Whether you’re emerging, self-producing, or expanding your practice, this session gives you practical tools and clarity to cost your work realistically and creatively. Come ready to engage, learn, and shape budgets that support your artistic vision.

This workshop will be lead by Roxanne Carney, a theatre producer with over 10 years’ experience working across live art and contemporary theatre. She has produced more than 20 projects with companies such as Dibby Theatre, Blown Fuse Theatre and Scottee & Friends and has secured over £1 million in funding for creative and community-led work. Her projects include supporting award-winning shows like Fat Blokes (Assistant Producer) and producing small to mid-scale, access-focused shows for artists and organisations across the UK (Vijay Patel’s Brotherly, Otherly Disorderly, Teatro Vivo’s The Mystery of the Missing Market, Blown Fuse’s In Her Shoes and Jamal Harewood’s The Privileged.) Roxanne specialises in fundraising, tour booking, creative logistics and building inclusive structures that support artists and participants.
