On Friday, we welcomed audiences back to our studios for Words + Music, our open mic night.
We celebrated the power of spoken word, song, and performance as local talent took to our stage, sharing their stories and songs in a space that encourages openness and celebrates creative freedom. Performers of all backgrounds and experience levels took part, from first-time poets to seasoned musicians.
We heard some impactful spoken word poetry from T and Yvonne, who travelled all the way from South London to share their talents with us, and a wonderful performance from our choir Thurrock Voices! It was a brilliant mix of voices and styles, all capturing the spirit of community and creativity that makes our open mic nights such a special place for performers and audiences alike.
“There’s something special about Words + Music,” said Daryl, Artistic Director and CEO of Arts Outburst. “It reminds us that creativity thrives when people are given a place to feel safe.”
We’re grateful for everyone who joined us for another inspiring night. Whether you performed or cheered from the audience, your presence helped create the supportive space that Words + Music has come to be known for.
The next event is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to welcome more local performers to the stage. Join us on Friday, 30th January 2026 from 7pm for another evening of creativity and community! Tickets are now available to book on our website — and if you’ve got something to share, we’d love to hear it!
