Celebrating a Year of Impact: Building Creative Communities Together in 2024/25

by Arts Outburst on 13 October 2025

At Arts Outburst, we believe that everyone should have access to the very best arts and cultural experiences — no matter who they are, what their background is, or where they come from. This belief sits at the heart of everything we do, and our latest Impact Report captures just how far that mission has taken us over the past year.

In 2024/25, our programmes reached an incredible 12,554 people across Thurrock. From Grays to Purfleet and Chadwell, our work has brought people together through creativity — helping communities connect, celebrate, and thrive.

We delivered 67 events and activities, collaborating with 43 local artists and 17 venues to make culture happen in the places where people live, learn, and spend time. Each project, workshop, and performance reflected our commitment to nurturing local talent and ensuring that the arts in Thurrock remain accessible, inclusive, and relevant to everyone.

Supporting Children, Young People, and Families

Our work with young people continues to grow from strength to strength. Through our creative learning programmes, over 7,300 children and young people took part in activities that helped them build confidence, express themselves, and improve their wellbeing.

One of the highlights of the year was our continued delivery of the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, where we provided 2,575 hot meals to children and young people from low-income families during the school holidays. Alongside creative workshops and performances, HAF offered a space where young people could make friends, learn new skills, and most importantly — have fun.

Celebrating Intergenerational Creativity

We’re proud to support people of all ages to stay creative, connected, and active. More than 5,000 older residents joined in creative sessions, social events, and performances designed to reduce isolation and promote wellbeing. Whether through singing, movement, or making, these moments of shared creativity have built new friendships and strengthened local pride.

In the Words of Our Community

Our favourite part of the Impact Report is always the voices of those who took part. From a young participant saying “I’ve been able to find things I like doing and it makes me feel calm” to a volunteer sharing “We can make a difference and are important to our young people and community” — these stories remind us why creativity matters.

Looking Ahead

As we look towards 2025/26, Arts Outburst will continue to champion creativity as a catalyst for change. With the launch of new projects such as Light Up Thurrock 2026, our evolving work through Thurrock CAN, and our ongoing focus on young people’s voices, the year ahead promises to build on everything we’ve achieved so far.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our funders, partners, staff, volunteers, and participants. You are the reason Arts Outburst continues to grow and flourish. Together, we’re proving that when we invest in creativity, we invest in people — and in a brighter, more connected Thurrock.
