Arts Outburst Raises the Curtain on Autumn 2025!

by Arts Outburst on 2 September 2025

Arts Outburst is set to launch an exciting new season of creativity, community, and connection this autumn, with a packed line-up of projects, programmes, and events designed for all ages across Thurrock.

As the long, sunny days fade into autumn, Arts Outburst promises a vibrant mix of community favourites, fresh initiatives, and opportunities that bring people together. From youth programmes and adult classes to new creative projects and live performances, the season offers something for everyone.

For children and young people, the much-loved multi-arts programme Make Some Noise! returns this September 15th, alongside other popular sessions such as Express on the 18th and Youth Club which starts on the 19th. October 4th sees the return of the renowned National Saturday Club, which is already close to full capacity—families are encouraged to sign up quickly to avoid disappointment.

Adults also have plenty to look forward to, with the continuation of the creative development programme Troupe! on September 15th, the acclaimed community choir Thurrock Voices which starts up again on September 18th, and regular Zumba and Zumba Gold classes that keep Thurrock moving each week on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

This term, Troupe! will be delving into the world of Dracula, working in partnership with the Purfleet Heritage Centre to creatively explore the gothic tale in a unique local setting.

Opportunities to get involved don’t stop there. Arts Outburst’s volunteering programme, Squad, invites local people to support events and activities throughout the season—perfect for those looking to give back or try something new.

A calendar of community events will also brighten up the autumn months. October sees the return of Fun Palace on the 4th of October, hosted for the first time at Arts Outburst’s new Get Creative Space in Grays Shopping Centre, alongside celebrations at the Thameside Theatre. The artist-led network Thurrock CAN will also host monthly coffee mornings at the new space, with our first being on September 25th. There will be a Thurrock CAN meeting at Arts Outburst Studios on October 30th, followed by another coffee morning on November 27th.

Live performance and creative showcases feature strongly in the line-up too. To mark Older People’s Day on the 1st of October, Arts Outburst will host a performance of Grandma’s Shop by Applause, alongside games, activities, and a free afternoon tea. Then, the popular open mic night Words + Music returns on October 31st and January 30th, providing an inclusive space for Thurrock’s musical and spoken word talent.

The season also introduces two brand-new projects. Urban Motion is a youth-led programme for 11–18 year olds, celebrating urban artforms such as graffiti and hip hop dance, designed to give young people across Thurrock a bold new platform for creativity and self-expression. This begins on the 18th of September, and then continues weekly on Thursdays. Meanwhile, Breathe Easy offers a creative, supportive route to a smoke-free lifestyle, with workshops and pop-up events providing encouragement and inspiration for positive change. This will consist of monthly drop-ins, as well as a Stoptober carnival on Friday the 10th of October.

To round off the year, Arts Outburst presents a magical new Christmas production of The Elves and the Shoemaker, which will be shown at Arts Outburst studios and Queen’s Theatre from the 13th December to the 20th December. Directed by Marcia Carr and designed by Lucy Fowler, this reimagining of the beloved tale promises festive fun for the whole family. Tickets are on sale now.

“This autumn is all about bringing people together through creativity,” said Daryl Branch, Artistic Director at Arts Outburst.
“We’re excited to welcome back much-loved programmes, launch bold new projects, and celebrate with the community through performances and events. There really is something for everyone.”

Arts Outburst looks forward to welcoming the Thurrock community to its new season of creativity, connection, and celebration this autumn.
